Mark Corcoran is a musician and songwriter from Dundalk. He has released two records; ‘If I Speak False’ and ‘Moonlight is X-raying the Earth’, the later produced by the late great piano-player with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Conway Savage.

He has contributed to the cultural life of Dundalk through establishing the people’s collective called Culture Club, which begat Sea Legs Open Mic, historical talks and mini festivals, book clubs, social gatherings and pop-cultural walking tours of Dundalk for An Táin Arts Centre amongst other things.

For this residency he is writing a new music project and collaboration with musicians around the world that will culminate in an album release in 2024, working title ‘Undecided and Unleaving’.

Peter Murphy in Hot Press described his second album thus: “(Moonlight) is a battered but beloved suitcase of songs. Suffused with an old school Bogartian a-cynic-is-just-a-disappointed-romantic sensibility for sure, but mordantly witty with it. This stuff’s fine as old wine.”

Listen to Mark talk about his time as song-writer in residence on Dundalk FM.
