2 September - 30 November
JD Whitman is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and ocean advocate. She works to creatively illuminate anthropogenic threats to the ocean and potential community-based solutions. Her practice aims to bring the ocean to viewers, develop awareness for vulnerable communities disproportionately affected by climate change and spark positive conversations surrounding environmental concerns and solutions.
She is a PhD candidate at the University of Galway and Burren College of Art and received an MFA in Photography, an MFA in Sculpture with honours, and an MA in Studio Arts from the University of Iowa (2019); a Post-Baccalaureate in Fine Art from the University of Galway and Burren College of Art (2014); and a BA from the University of Chicago with honours (2013).
