Colm’s practice as a filmmaker and educator is collaborative and immersive and seeks meaningful exploration of subject matter, aiming to stimulate dialogue in a wider context. His projects have explored questions relating to health, identity, community and place. Colm was cinematographer on Frank Berry’s feature drama ‘I Used to Live Here’; a film exploring the terrifying phenomenon of cluster suicides among young people.

‘I Used to Live Here’ was nominated for three IFTA awards including best film and won the audience award for best first feature at the Galway film fleadh.

Colm was cinematographer and editor on ‘Last Breath’, a film artwork by visual artist Marie Brett which exhibited in the Irish Museum of Modern art.

In addition to Colm’s film practice, Colm has over ten years’ experience as a visual arts educator, working with, adult learners, early school leavers, community groups and addiction support centres; where he designs and facilitates film, photography and animation arts and health / educational programmes.

Colm is the artistic director of the Louth International Film Festival and lectures part-time in film at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT).

Colm holds a master’s degree in Socially Engaged Art – Further Adult and Community Education from the National College of Art and Design.
