What with the blue skies, golden sunand daffodils, colour seems to be returning all around us. Amid this first flourishing of Spring, Artists from RehabCare and Encore Productions staged their beautiful ‘Wired From The Heart’ exhibition in mid-February.

The launch was well attended and the appreciation and praise for the mixed media work was immense. Collage, drawing, painting and wire sculpture combined in the gallery space in a way that asked audiences to be present and grateful for the world around them, for nature and colour, for friendship and memory.

The artworks were created by artists who use RehabCare services in Dundalk and was facilitated by professional artist Rachel Tinniswood. The wire sculptures originated here in An Táin Arts Centre and were the result of workshops delivered by artist Orlaith Cullinane to participants of Encore Productions Community Residence. The exhibition also included photographs from Encore Production’s theatre work since 2017 and a display of their stunning bespoke costumes created by local designer and dressmaker Eileen Johnstone.

Arts workshops with Orlaith are ongoing with our group exploring the theme of ‘Marking Time’ and how the passing of the seconds, minutes, weeks and days is felt and sensed by us all in different ways.

Meanwhile Encore continue their rehearsals of ‘Frankenstein’ and will soon begin a series of skill building workshops in voice and movement with Anthony Kinahan and Fiona Keenan O’Brien respectively. Once premiered here at An Tain at the start of October, Encore plan to take Mary and her Monster into the West with an appearance at the Hawkswell Theatre inSligo
