An Táin Arts Centre announce M.A.D Youth Theatre’s Kwasie Boyce as newest appointment to the board.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kwasie Boyce to our board.  Kwasie Boyce is best known for his work as an actor and theatre practitioner and running M.A.D Youth Theatre.

Paul Hayes, Director of An Táin Arts Centre says of the appointment, “At board level we recognized the need to expand the skillset of our board to include someone with extensive experience in the arts and in particular youth arts and we identified Kwasie as an ideal candidate. We are delighted that he has now accepted the position and are looking forward to working with him in this capacity.”

We are currently in the process of reviewing our strategy and reassessing our youth policy. This is an area that we are certain Kwasie will have a lot of expertise to contribute to.  This new appointment will also strengthen An Táin Arts Centre’s partnership with M.A.D Youth Theatre. As part of this collaboration we provides space for rehearsals, workshops and performances along with marketing, box office and publicity support. M.A.D Youth Theatre also have access to the management and technical team at An Táin Arts Centre to help the group reach their full potential as they perform on a fully professional theatre stage.

M.A.D Youth Theatre are like a guiding star for young folks who are curious about drama and eager to discover their hidden talents and they are gearing up for an exciting 13th year. They have an impressive body of work behind them including, This is a Room by Carys Corburn, a play that wove touching stories with incredible acting, leaving everyone in awe. The M.A.D Little Drama Festival, an event that showcased incredible talents. The combination of their creativity and skills was truly mind-blowing. Both exceptional events unfolded at the An Táin Arts Centre. The MAD Couture fashion show wasn’t your ordinary fashion show. They ingeniously repurposed old items to create fresh and innovative designs. It was a statement about caring for our planet while staying stylish. M.A.D Youth Theatre is all about using drama to spark positive changes and make the world a better place.

In May last year, as part of Irish National Opera‘s past tour of Werther, INO worked with select venues and community partners to explore the creative ideas and themes in the story of Massenet’s opera. We were delighted to be selected as one of these venues and partnered Irish National Opera with M.A.D Youth Theatre and Dundalk Youth Centre to prepare and perform what resulted in a vibrant and moving community showcase in our foyer prior to the performance of the opera.

Paul Hayes continues, “We are delighted to partner with M.A.D Youth Theatre. It has proven to be a great introduction to the theatre for thousands of young people. It also provides a safe place for freedom of expression, and this is something we are passionate about. We look forward to another exciting year of quality projects from the performers at M.A.D.”
