These are the Waves is a series of events to celebrate the music of the late Conway Savage and his connection to Dundalk. 25 years ago, Conway came to Dundalk with fellow Australian Suzie Higgie to promote their new album ‘Soon Will Be Tomorrow’. An album conceived by Suzie, recorded in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales and released in 1998. Cited by Michael Stipe’s (of REM fame) as one of his favourites of that year, it has endured to become a classic.
Suzie Higgie was the driving force of the legendary Australian band the Falling Joys. She was the main songwriter/singer and instrumentalist in the group, and during the 1990’s released 3 albums, which all went to Number #1 on the Australian Independent Charts. They toured extensively in the US and Europe to great acclaim. Along with ‘Soon’, she released a solo album ‘Songs of Habit’ in 2005 and collaborated with folk legend Tim Rose on the 2003 release ‘Snowed In: The Last Recordings’.
Tickets: €15 plus booking fee.
