Culture Night 2024: Reading of ‘The Big House’ by Conor McGinnity
20 September
No booking required.
Audiences can enjoy a reading from an extract of The Big House, an original play written by Conor McGinnity, An Táin Arts Centre’s Inaugural Writer In Residence 2020 and produced in association with An Táin Arts Centre.
The play tells the story of Rose, who rails against her life of captivity. She married the son of local farmer, Big John, but instead of becoming lady of the manor, she’s little more than a servant.
Enter Marty, a lonely farmhand with little in his life. All he wants is a warm bed and a good woman. Rose spots her opening. Big John is quick to remind her of her responsibilities to this family though. The promises she made. For better or worse.
If you like what you see on Culture Night, why not book tickets for the play which runs at An Táin Arts Centre from 6th – 8th of November at 8pm.
Culture Night is an annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts supported by the Arts Council and Louth County Council.
